All bar one of
our staff team have achieved a level three or equivalent qualification in
Early Years Childcare and education.All staff undertake
an enhanced criminal bureau (CRB check) and attend a minimum of four training
courses per year.The staff all hold a
paediatric first aid qualification which is renewed every 3 years.We have been trained by the Speech and
language department to run our own ‘TALL’ group- Turn taking, Attention,
Listening and Learning. The Occupational Therapy teams have trained us to run
our own ‘Get Set for School’ programme, designed to ensure all preschool
children start school with all the skills to operate independently and
confidently. The nursery officers in the 1 - 3 age group have been trained in Makaton sign language to help the children communicate.
One of the owners, Clare recently completed her Foundation Degree in Early Years at Hastings University. This further education has lead to some major changes in our practice to enhance children's experiences at the nursery and was instrumental in bringing Forest School to Amberley. She has now started her BA course and aims to finish the honour course before becoming an Early Years Professional. We wish her all the best with her studies.
